Maintaining Your Car Battery Can Add Years to Its Life

If your car, truck, or SUV has been starting a little bit sluggishly lately then that could mean that your car battery is on its way out. The good news is that you may be able to do some maintenance on it and extend its life before you have to replace it altogether.

Start by cleaning the battery posts and cables with a wire brush. This is an area that can accumulate a corrosive build up that can impede performance of the battery. Be careful when you do this to not get it on your skin or clothes. You can also check the battery's electrolyte and add some water to the fill holes if need be. Finally, you can check the condition and charge of the battery with a hydrometer.

If you still have battery issues after that then it is probably time to bring it into our service center here at Scott Ford in Kingwood, WV and let us get you a replacement that will last you for years to come.
